Inhaling (Mark Burgess and Yves Altana)
Notes by Mark - Definitely my favourite track from this album. When I first heard the demo version of this song I was genuinely up for everything, those sweeping guitars define the ambience of the whole album. Lyrically it's dark territory. We used to have a saying in school, we knew smoking cigarettes was forbidden and even dangerous, some would say, yeah but it's all right, I don't inhale. When I wrote this lyric I was playing with fire, I still am, but as my friend Markus Pauli reminds me "it's better to face the fire, than the madness of the screaming hour."
Inhale, hail, hail
Here they come now see them all
See them standing and I'll see them fall
Then I'll count the bullets in the wall
Inhale, hail, hail
On the sweetest, scented tide
Running river won't you carry me
And wash away this foolish pride
Oh recklessly we'll descend
And heaven in danger again
And no one will know
Where will it end?
I'll probably burn
That's what she said
Perhaps I can learn
Cos if I lose it I'm dead
Inhale, hail, hail
Did I dream this dark desire
Because I think I'd rather face the fire
Than the madness of this screaming hour
Inhale, hail, hail
On this languid power drain
Dancing echoes in a dying brain
But then I breathe and I'm alive again
Oh recklessly we'll descend and.
Heaven is in danger again
And no one must know
where will it end?
With one step in Eden and..
The other in Hell
Which way will I fall
No-one can tell
You can't tell
I'll probably burn
That's what she said
Perhaps I will learn
COs if I lose it I'm dead
Yes I'm dead
Not dead yet
Still one step in Heaven
Pull me
Pull me back come on
